The Ursula K. Le Guin Prize Shortlist
The Ursula K. Le Guin foundation has announced the shortlist for the Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction, the winner of which will be announced on October 21, 2024. The list is:
- The Saint of Bright Doors by Vajra Chandrasekera
- The Skin and Its Girl by Sarah Cypher
- It Lasts Forever and Then It’s Over by Anne de Marcken
- Orbital by Samantha Harvey
- Sift by Alissa Hattman
- The Library of Broken Worlds by Alaya Dawn Johnson
- Those Beyond the Wall by Micaiah Johnson
- The Siege of Burning Grass by Premee Mohamed
- Some Desperate Glory by Emily Tesh
- Mammoths at the Gates by Nghi Vo
I realise that I already have a ton of books on my TBR list, and that I'm also planning to try and read the Booker longlist when it's announced, but I figured I'll try and make an attempt at these as well. I've only heard of a couple of them - Orbital and The Saint of Bright Doors are already on my TBR list, I've been intending to read some of Premee Mohammed's work, and I loved Nghi Vo's The Empress of Salt And Fortune, the but rest is new to me, so I'm excited to have some new-to-me speculative fiction to read.
